All three CDs were recorded at Sound Mine Studio in Perth, Western Australia. The studio engineer is Lee Buddle, who specializes in acoustic music.
For the Winter's Tale CD, we spent a while trying some new microphones and after much deliberation went back to the setup used on Night Fishing.
The setup is an X-Y stereo microphone pair, using a Sennheiser MKH-40 and a Neumann TLM-170. Each mic went through an analog Millenia STT-1 Origin pre-amp.
Night Fishing and In the Duck Shed were recorded with a Lowden O12 guitar, and A Winter's Tale was recorded with a Taylor 514ce.
Lee's skills extend to the producer role, as well as extra instrumentation and mastering. Perth really is lucky to have such a talent available.
